When most people think of models the first thing that comes to mind is a model on the runway and the ones on the cover of shiny magazines. On a global scale there are a lot more types of models, some of whom are not very popular in Bulgaria unfortunately. This is due to the fact that the Bulgarian market is in the process of development at present.
- Fashion Model or Editorial Model (Моден модел или Модел за списания)
These are the models we see in high fashion magazines. They usually work with the best fashion designers. Fashion and Editorial models go through a very strict selection process. The majority of them are extremely tall and slim. Some even call them “the perfect models” as these models are usually 175 cm tall or above for women and 184 cm and above for men.
- Fashion or Catalogue Model
Due to the technological development in the last few years, the demand for this type of models has significantly risen. They serve as an illustration of the new fashion trends in printed and digital catalogues. Fashion and Catalogue models should have the ability to easily attract the attention of a diverse audience. Their main goal is to draw clients, who will buy the products or services that are being sold in the magazine. The main sales tools of catalogues are the catchy images and their well written content.
The strict rules that apply to fashion models are not valid for catalogue models. However, the latter must possess a vibrant personality, excellent verbal and non-verbal communication and appropriate behaviour, a positive attitude, clear skin, healthy hair and a dazzling smile. According to the type of catalogue and clothes, which the brand would like to advertise, requirements are set for the characteristics of the models, e.g. height, age, body shape, ethnicity, etc. It is usually the case that the market determines the desired appearance of the models.
- Runway Model
Runway models walk the runway and are hired to demonstrate designer brand collections. Designer clothes always have precise measurements, therefore, models are required to be of a certain size and height. The minimum height is 175 for females and 184 for males.
- Swimsuit and Lingerie Model
Swimsuit and lingerie models are specialised in showcasing swimwear and lingerie. They usually have a warm and gentle appearance and a well-shaped body. These models can advertise linen, summer wear and other types of clothes.
