Verbal and nonverbal communication and their relationship to fashion.
Body language is not only a means of expression, but also a key element in communication that influences our relationships with people, especially with colleagues. The ability to master nonverbal signals, in line with fashion trends, can help us build a good self-image and improve our professional and personal relationships. (111).png)
The connection between verbal and nonverbal communication is greater than we think. According to a well-known study conducted by Albert Mehrabian, verbal communication (i.e., words) accounts for only 7% of our total impression of the person we are talking to, while 55% comes from nonverbal communication (body language). The remaining 38% comes from the speaker's tone and voice. This study shows us how important the way we stand, where we place our hands, and the tone we use when we speak. Ultimately, they make a bigger impression on our listeners than our actual speech.
When working in the fashion industry, your appearance is the first impression you make. This is because models are the faces of a particular brand or product and, as such, they represent it with their appearance. During a work engagement, casting, and callback (interview with a producer), it is very important to look presentable and show through your body language that you are confident and calm. Also, your tone of voice should be convincing, and you should speak clearly, expressively, and high enough for anyone listening to hear you well.
